For my first photo blog at the Kentucky Department of Education, I recently went to the 2nd annual Academies of Lexington Career Expo over in Fayette County.
Twelve director’s chairs were placed in the parking lot of Thomas Gym on the campus of Kentucky School for the Deaf (KSD). These chairs – properly distanced – were to signify that the 2020 graduates of KSD are now the directors of their own lives.

iRap Summer Camp

Fans of hip-hop music have known for years that it has been used by artists to express feelings and shed light onto topics affecting their neighborhoods and communities.
Students at the Academy @ Shawnee were given the chance to talk to United States Navy pilots, air crewmen and explosives disposal teams when they visited the Navy Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps program at the school for part of Navy Week. 
Kentucky Education Commissioner Wayne Lewis recently began a monthly series of visits to Kentucky area technology centers, and high, middle and elementary schools across the Commonwealth.
