The Kentucky Board of Education (KBE) is accepting nominations for the Dr. Johnnie Grissom Award and the Dr. Samuel Robinson Award.

Grissom was a long-time Kentucky Department of Education employee who served as associate commissioner for the Office of Special Instructional Services. The award named in her honor honors a Kentuckian or a Kentucky organization for outstanding dedication to improving student achievement and for closing the achievement gap.

Robinson served on the KBE from 1991 to 2004 and provided magnificent commitment, service and leadership as an advocate for all children. Since 2004, the Dr. Samuel Robinson Award has been given to an individual or group in Kentucky for outstanding leadership, commitment and service in promoting equity and opportunity to learn at high levels for all Kentucky students.

The deadline for nominations for both awards is Jan. 30. For more information or to receive nomination forms, contact Mardi Montgomery at (502) 564-3141, ext. 4840, or by email at mardi.montgomery@education.ky.gov.
