On Feb. 13, approximately 250 career and technical education students from across the state will descend on the Kentucky State Capitol for Student Leadership Day.

This annual event is organized by the Kentucky Association for Career and Technical Education. During the morning, the students will gather at Frankfort High School to learn about the legislative process from policymakers and lobbyists. HOSA State President Sydney Beavers will testify before the House Education Committee about the value of career and technical education.

Following the morning program, students and state officers of the career and technical student organizations will have the chance to tour the capitol and meet with legislators. Representatives of career and technical education will be recognized on the floor of both houses and Gov. Matt Bevin will sign a proclamation declaring February Career and Technical Education Month in Kentucky.
