Last week, we had our first meeting of the Accountability Steering Committee. It is composed of 37 individuals representing teachers, principals, superintendents, community members, higher education and education advocates – including the business community, legislators and parents.
Commissioner Stephen Pruitt said he was encouraged by the level of interest in the state’s new accountability system at the recent Education Town Hall Meetings, and teachers will be involved in every step of the system’s development.
At its meeting in Frankfort, the Kentucky Board of Education discussed the development of a new accountability system for public schools under the Every Student Succeeds Act.
