Kentucky FFA was well represented at the 93rd Annual National FFA Convention, held virtually Oct. 27-29. More than 100,000 FFA members, advisers and supporters registered for the event, which also was broadcast live on RFD TV.
At its Aug. 18 meeting, the Kentucky General Assembly’s Interim Joint Committee on Education was introduced to Jason Glass, Kentucky’s next education commissioner and chief learner.
For Mark Thomas, the new superintendent of Todd County Schools, education is a family focus. One of his daughters is a Bullitt County high school English teacher. Another is headed for the University of Louisville (UofL). And his stepdaughter is about to start her junior year at Western Kentucky University (WKU).

Three Kentucky teachers and FFA advisers who advised national FFA award winners were recognized at the FFA Convention Oct. 25-28 in Indianapolis.
The Kentucky Department of Education recognized 10 Kentucky public schools on Sept. 18 for outstanding teaching and learning conditions. These Winners’ Circle schools were recognized for their effective teaching and school leadership practices and will be shared as models of best practices across the state.
The last day of school at Taylorsville Elementary School carried with it an extra sense of finality this year, as students and teachers will move to a new building next school year.
