USED offers fellowship program for educators

Applications are open for the U.S. Department of Education’s (USED) 2018-19 School Ambassador Fellowship program. The program is designed to improve education for students by involving educators in the development and implementation of national education policy. The department is looking for outstanding teachers, principals, counselors, librarians and any other school-based professionals that interact daily with students and teachers.

KDE aiding the fight against human trafficking

January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month. This rapidly growing crime impacts children in our state; however, because trafficking typically takes place on the fringes of society, many are unaware of its existence. The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) now offers a human trafficking website with more information about this issue and how it affects our students and families.

KDE forming Counselor Advisory Council

Applications are open for the Kentucky Department of Education’s (KDE) Counselor Advisory Council, a group of about 25 practicing counselor leaders that is being formed to provide the commissioner of education with direct input from counselors in Kentucky public schools.

The Henry Ford awards recognize innovative teachers

Nominations are open for The Henry Ford’s Innovation Nation Teacher Innovator Awards. The awards recognize teachers who demonstrate an original and creative approach to teaching, exhibit resourcefulness, engage students and are making a positive impact on not only their classroom but their community, colleagues, administrators, school, and/or district.
