Kentucky students join Gov. Beshear, Lt. Gov. Coleman at Student Mental Health Awareness event

Students on the Kentucky Department of Education’s (KDE’s) Commissioner’s Student Advisory Council joined Lt. Gov. Jacqueline Coleman and Gov. Andy Beshear on May 12 at the Kentucky State Capitol for the ceremonial signing of House Bill (HB) 44, which allows local school districts’ attendance policies to include provisions for a student’s mental health or behavioral health status.

KDE shares links to rights of students, national motto legislation

Pursuant to KRS 158.186, before Sept. 15 of each year the commissioner of education must distribute copies of KRS 158.183, which details the “rights of students,” and KRS 158.195, which requires each public elementary and secondary school to “display the national motto” of the United States.
