The U.S. Census Bureau is gearing up for the 2020 Census. Accurate community statistics are critical to many federal initiatives and programs, including education programs. For example, Census counts are used as part of the allocation process for programs under the Every Student Succeeds Act, such as Title I, Part A; Title II, Part A; and Title IV, Part A.

School districts can play a part in encouraging their stakeholders to fully participate in the Census process. The U.S. Census Bureau publishes resources that districts can use to advertise the importance of Census participation and encourages outreach activities within communities.

Specific questions about federal education programs that may be affected by the Census should be directed to the appropriate Kentucky Department of Education office.
