The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) is accepting nominations for the Kevin M. Noland-Mary Ann Miller Award through Oct. 16. The award recognizes a Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) employee for significant service to Kentucky’s public schools, and for providing inspiration for education.
Michelle Sircy, Ed.D., a longtime educator, high school counselor and counseling services specialist, has joined the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) as program coordinator for comprehensive school counseling in the Office of Teaching and Learning. She began her duties on Sept. 11.
The Kentucky Board of Education (KBE) named Robin Fields Kinney as interim state commissioner of education during a special meeting on Sept. 14. Kinney, an associate commissioner who oversees the Office of Finance and Operations for the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE), will assume her new role Sept. 30 – one day after current Education Commissioner Jason E. Glass departs the agency.

Kevin Dailey, a middle school social studies teacher at Ballyshannon Middle School in Boone County, has been named the 2024 Kentucky Teacher of the Year. "I am really blessed and honored to be able to represent 40,000 plus teachers in Kentucky," Dailey said. "This day is about all of our kids and all of our families. This day is about Kentucky."
