KDE receives community input on principal search at Kentucky School for the Deaf

 Kentucky School for the Deaf (KSD) supporters got the chance to express their opinions on the search for a new principal during a series of forums in May. The two forums – one virtual forum on May 24 and one in-person forum on May 31 – served as opportunities for stakeholders in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing communities to inform the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) and help the hiring committee make critical and informed decisions throughout the process.

KSD Advisory Board hears updates on additions to staff

The Kentucky School for the Deaf (KSD) Advisory Board met in Danville on Feb. 22. The group provides feedback to KSD and Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) leadership to ensure the Deaf community's specialized education and other needs are met.

April Pieper named KDE’s new director of state schools

April Pieper has been named director for the division of state schools at the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE). Pieper, who was named to the position on Sept. 14, most recently served as education program manager in KDE’s Office of Special Education and Early Learning.
