Plenty to see and do at Salato

A beautiful day makes for a wonderful field trip. As was the case when 2nd-grade classes from Southern Elementary School (Fayette County) visited the Salato Wildlife Education Center in Frankfort.

Light painting in Rowan County

My assignment: two students and their teacher who discovered something in space. This sounded like a great opportunity to create a concept photo, one that went beyond teachers and students working in a classroom. But what could the photo be?

R.E. Stevenson Elementary School

A lucky day for me is when I visit a school on assignment for Kentucky Teacher and also visit a nearby district. Often this is the case when a county has an independent school district. In January I had the pleasure of visiting R.E. Stevenson Elementary School in Russellville Independent.

Pineville Independent Schools

Kentucky State Fair

By Amy Wallot amy.wallot@education.ky.gov The Kentucky State Fair is a fun way to see students putting their agricultural knowledge to use. And the best part of the state fair…LUNCH! Yes, that is a KrispyCreme hamburger. And yes, it was delicious. Calloway County High School freshman Logan Palmer plays the banjo while Calloway County High senior Jacob Reynolds, George Rogers Clark [...]

Summer fun

By Amy Wallot amy.wallot@education.ky.gov During the summer I’ll venture out looking for students enjoying summer break. It was very hot this day, so I headed to a rope swing I know of in Franklin County. Luckily, a family from Owen County was there cooling off. They were having a great time and didn’t mind me taking some pictures. [...]
